So, you made it to 2010. That means you’re only 739 days from December 21, 2012- for whatever that may or may not mean. Maybe we should be more focused on getting through this year, avoiding a double dip in the economy, avoiding a terrorist attack, and crossing our fingers that Israel won’t take out Iran’s nuclear plants. 

I mean, who needs or can afford, $5.00 a gallon gasoline? That said don’t think we can continue to skate by life without a price or a SACRIFICE. John Major Jenkins writes, “All of the world’s religions and metaphysical systems of spiritual transformation agree: sacrifice is the key. Preferably self-sacrifice, for the simple reason that IF we don’t do it, the universe will do it for us.”

Sacrifices come in various shades of light and color.

Our biggest 2010 New Year’s resolution (maybe even commitment) should be that we sacrifice our attachment to ILLUSION! We are NOT separate from our divine nature. We did NOT enter this world as TRASH (can you say original sin?) from the dumps of Ghenna. We are NOT incapable of loving and being loved. May we wipe away all of the egoic built illusions and affirm that, “I AM” instead of, I AM NOT!

We need to move from the weak METAPHORS and into the rich MYTHS!

That may sound like the opposite of what should happen in 2010, but look at it on a deeper level. We’ve created metaphors due to our inability to understand the divine. However it’s the myths that are the glue to society. Joseph Campbell puts it this way, “Myth is the secret opening through which the inexhaustible energies of the cosmos pour into human cultural manifestations.” How we need more openings to the divine that we are!

As our identities become centered on our true SELF,  and we consciously restore EGO (false self) to its proper function as a temporary extension of the true SELF, our relationships to one another and to the world will change! And what is that TRUE SELF?

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!
